Briggs & Stratton 399671 Clutch-Starter

This starter clutch is an authentic OEM replacement part used in small outdoor power engines. Each package includes one clutch and one ball bearing. The starter clutch allows the engine to start by engaging the crankshaft to spin the engine and initiate combustion. Once the engine starts the clutch disengages to prevent over spinning. Over time the clutch may fail due to worn-down bearings, or damage to the clutch body, resulting in hard starting or failure to start. To replace it, first, disconnect the spark plug for safety. Then, remove the engine cover to access the starter clutch. Remove the clutch from the crankshaft, and thoroughly clean the mounting shaft. Install the new clutch by screwing it onto the crankshaft, then reassemble the engine cover and reconnect the spark plug. This Clutch is used in Lawn Tractors.
